ManageEngine OpUtils
About ManageEngine OpUtils
OpUtils is a comprehensive IP address manager and switch port mapper solution that provides holistic visibility into your network address space and automates end-to-end scanning with real-time data insights. Here are some of the features that make OpUtils stand out from other IPAM and SPM tools via the following features:
- Advanced IP scanner: OpUtils' Advanced IP scanner allows network administrators to scan IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for real-time availability monitoring, provides comprehensive insights into scanned addresses, automates periodic scanning with scan schedules, maps IPs to connected switch details, and monitors IP subnets in your DHCP server.
- Visual representation of subnets and switches: OpUtils' hierarchical tree view allows you to create groups of subnets and switches to perform scans and other network tasks. Its donut view allows you to track the networking attributes of IP addresses and ports.
- IP request tool: You can create, view, and track your IP requests within the console. Network administrators can approve, modify, or deny IP requests and allocate IPs based on IP availability.
- Maximized visibility into your network connectivity details: With the help of OpUtils' switch port mapper, you get an end-to-end mapping of the devices that are connected to these switch ports. You also get visibility into how your network nodes are connected to MAC addresses and IP addresses.
- User management control: Exercise more control over your network address space by leveraging OpUtils' Role Based Access Control feature. You can make use of the default roles available in the OpUtils console or even create custom roles for your team members based on their destination and needs.
- Granular reports and insights: OpUtils helps you generate detailed reports of IP Address Manager and Switch Port Mapper
- Real-time alert monitoring: OpUtils allows you to scan your IPs, switch ports and devices on-demand, and send you alerts. It also allows setting schedules for scanning and alerting based on common events via email or Syslog.

Proved essential for maintaining our network health

Pros
The ability of ManageEngine OpUtils to monitor IP addresses real time and switch port mapping was also unique. I could monitor device connections in real time relative to the conflicts and the other was the auto generated alerts for prohibited connections made the network more secure.
Cons
Sometimes SNMP-based device discovery was not able to find non-standard devices and the information had to be entered manually. There is one drawback of the reporting module it slowed down when creating large sets of records.

All i want is something to reflect IP address usage and operate in real time.
Pros
It was easy to install and configure. Not a bad interface
Cons
Couple things.Get rid of the adds at the top bar. I bought a product, I don't want repeated notifications to buy others. Turns me off completely to looking at all the other offerings. The scan is too slow and does not update often enough to reflect changes in DNS.When scrolling down a range to find an IP, the view resets and puts me back at the top of the adress space no matter what I do it will not refresh every minute.Login window is confusing.SSO setup is misleading and documentation is inaccurate.

An effective tool for proactive network management
Reviewed on 2025-04-23
Pros
By integrating the Wake-on-LAN feature, OpUtils has made the management of such devices easy since the devices can be made to wake up at set times. Observing the bandwidth restrictions in every interface helps in finding out those constraints which need an upgrade.
Cons
There are also occasional discrepancies in the numbers that are shown in the Bandwidth Monitor when you are monitoring interfaces that have a varying traffic flow. Cross checks with other tools are needed for confirmation purposes.

Certain valuable benefits in the areas of alerting and device management
Reviewed on 2025-04-17
Pros
The practical usage of SNMP tools including the MIB Browser and the Trap Receiver has enabled efficient SNMP-enabled device management as well as real-time alerts when certain events occur in the network to allow administrators to react in time.
Cons
While testing the tool during its initial installation, the configuration of SNMP Community Strings for a number of management stations was taxing because the GUI does not support mass configuration, thereby calling for repetitive inputting.
