Turnkey production workflows for media professionals.

About Limecraft

Limecraft is a cloud-based Asset Management and Workflow Automation solution for television production and Archive Management. Producers, post facilities and broadcasters worldwide rely on Limecraft services for storing, organising and securely exchanging content and essential production data.

Limecraft automates tedious tasks like ingesting, logging and transcription, as well as subtitling and mastering. Hence journalists, media managers and editors can process significantly more in less time. On the output side, it allows producers and distributors to create and dispatch different versions at marginal cost, thereby maximising their target audience.

While workflows are centrally managed and visualised using Limecraft, some steps of the execution can be delegated to one or more local instances of Limecraft Cloud Connector. This results in a hybrid on-prem/cloud based setup. Whereby local storage and processing can be seamlessly combined with cloud-based collaboration.

When original footage is stored to tape robots, edit proxies on shared edit storage, and low-res proxies in the cloud, Limecraft keeps track of all versions. When the editors work remotely on low-res proxies and throw back the bin file, Limecraft automatically relinks to the high-res fragments.

While primarily targeted at the acquisition, production, post-production, import & QC, archiving, distribution and syndication stages of the supply chain, the Limecraft platform can also be used in promos and marketing, OTT, VOD and social media publishing. Ideal for production and creative teams (factual production, drama production, creative video and post-production), Limecraft enables users to search, locate, share, comment, review and approve, and deliver assets, including video and subtitles.

Key benefits of Limecraft

Limecraft offers a white-labelled approach to the UI design that allows media organizations to create their own private clouds. This feature also offers capacity management and delegated access control. The software is user-friendly and gives users the needed tools to handle their own widgets and customizable features.

Limecraft supports customizable taxonomies and thesauruses, it also uses different types of databases and Elastic search to optimize their search options.

Limecraft was the most productive teammember of our Master thesis group...

Pros

The speed and accuracy of the interview transcriptions (in spite of local language and dialects) is impressive. Recognition of speakers is virtually perfect (even when several people speak simultaneously).

Cons

As far as the transcription functionality is concerned: nothing. Maye it would have been nice to be able to export the transcription in en editable format (instead of only pdf).

Response from Limecraft

Thanks for your kind words, Hans. Happy to help!

Transcribing interviews for my master thesis

My master thesis is based on case studies, so interviews are the main source of data. Manually transcribing these interviews takes a lot of time, but [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] had a solution for that. After our interview, he offered me a trial account that was sufficient to have all my interviews typed out automatically. This saves a lot of time, it is fantastic that this tool exists and I am very grateful to [SENSITIVE CONTENT HIDDEN] for this gift.

Pros

Easy to use, structured layout, various functionalities

Cons

If the quality of your audio is not optimal, or the voices have language accents then the quality of the transcript is also less, but with the editing tool on the platform you can easily adapt the transcript and this will still save you time.

Very useful for technical tasks

I will defnitely use it to speed up captioning of corporate videos.

Pros

The software is very useful when you need a good transcription. It's far better than a lot of transcription software I've used so far! The subtitling feature helps save some time for technical videos (IT, corporate) and that's how I use it.

Cons

I wouldn't use it for fiction. The reading flow and sentence breaks are not ideal. I've tested the captioning option (subtitles in the same language as the video)

Response from Limecraft

Thanks for your feedback!

We are aware that fictional content is sometimes hard to transcribe by machine, so we offer the ability to upload a script and that should improve the output.

I mainly use the software for our production of corporate and scientific videos. The interview transcription tool is appreciated a lot by our clients and it helps to save us a lot of time during the editing.

Pros

The software really delivers what it promises. It brings a lot of added value in your postproduction flows. The interview and dialogue transcription are very accurate and are very easy to use. Limecraft gave us also very good support in setting up the software for our clients and for us.

Cons

There are some data features that are ideal for film or television postproduction, but sometimes a little bit more complicated for corporate video production. However, this is mainly a data description issue and has not really an impact on the fantastic functionalities of the software.

Response from Limecraft

Thanks for your review, Peter. Much appreciated!
