About Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Red Hat Enterprise Linux is an open-source operating system designed to help businesses across multiple industries deploy workloads, applications, and services on a secure foundation. It offers Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) and mandatory access controls (MAC), which enable enterprises to ensure compliance with various regulations.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux minimizes cases of workload interruptions caused by OS updates and lets organizations create health checks for applications, services, and programs using the Greenboot framework. Information technology (IT) teams can also create custom rpm-ostree images, configure OS content according to requirements and deploy them across on-premise, cloud, or container environments and physical or virtual machines.
The Federal Information Processing Standard 140-2 (FIPS 140-2) and Common Criteria-certified Red Hat Enterprise Linux supports various applications, databases, independent software vendor (ISV) offerings, and machine learning workloads.

Works well with VMWare / VMs but choosing and acquiring the right subscription is expensive...

Pros
Trusted supplier in the space with alternative versions like centos for non-production environments. Very capable and updated frequently OS and support for our x86 systems including VMs. It is very VMWare ESXi friendly.
Cons
The subscription pricing made it difficult for us to roll this out wide-scale. Further, finding the right subscription and actually acquiring it was not easy or straightforward.
