About influence

If you’re at all familiar with influencer marketing software, you might be wondering how a marketplace platform could double as a social channel. There’s an inherent community to social networks, while marketplaces have a more mercenary quality to them. Brands and influencers alike are only there for themselves and trying to negotiate their best prices. Where does the community fit in?

This is why the creators of influence.co refer to it as the LinkedIn for influencer marketing. There is, of course, the job-seeking element to it: with over 600 live campaigns, brands are trying to find creators to collaborate with, creators are trying to find brands that want to work with them. Meanwhile, the social feed is populated with all kinds of content: influencers can post as a way to show their worth; brands share content or open campaigns; brands can ask for input from influencers, maybe advice on what works and what doesn’t.

Because of the social media functions, influencers are able to create much more thorough profiles for themselves and really showcase their work. With most marketplaces, an influencer profile is automatically populated with data and content that’s ingested through the API. Here, the influencer has a greater degree of control over the profile, able to write their own bio and create a portfolio of their past collaborations across any of their connected profiles. Standard demographic information is shown by default, and brands/agencies with Pro accounts can look at the more advanced demographics that are part of the first-party data influence.co receives via API.

Brands and agencies can also create their own profiles, which work like a company page on LinkedIn. Employees of these companies create their own profiles and become team members for the brand—giving them the ability to post as the company and collaborate on campaigns.

It’s important to understand the primary function of the social aspect of influence.co: it doesn’t take the place of discovery and activation, it complements it. As with any influencer, engagement and authenticity matters. When they’re liking and commenting on posts, brands see influencers as motivated, willing to put in the effort. And while brands can absolutely post their open campaigns to their profiles (and therefore the feed), there are also more traditional methods of doing so. They can use the search function to find influencers by standard criteria like category, followers counts, and social channel. But they can also search for more unconventional things like past collaborations (maybe with a brand’s competitor), or whether or not they have an Amazon influencer shop.

Creating campaign briefs on influence.co will also be a familiar experience for anyone who’s worked with a marketplace before. You can create detailed campaign briefs spelling out your objectives and requirements, accept applications, and message back and forth with influencers who do apply. If you’re on the free plan, this is where your features end. You can still run campaigns outside the platform, using whatever software (or none at all) to manage them as posts go live. For those paying for the Business Pro plan, you’ll get access to the campaign management tools for handling all the applications, communicating with team members, and finalizing content for everything to go live.

Finally, there’s the reporting on your campaigns (for Pro accounts). This is actually the one downer in a series of bright spots. The information you get out of influence.co is minimal, consisting only of publicly available data: total likes, total comments, and a catalog of all the content that’s part of the campaign. You can sort the content by newest/oldest, or most/least popular. And that’s essentially it. No visualizations of the data that it does have, no analysis of when and where, and who is engaging. It’s surprisingly lean for a platform that excels at everything else.

Influence offers me everything I need and more.

Pros

Influence.co isn't software. It's an online platform. I love how easy it makes connecting with existing people from within my network as well as new people, both clients and associates.

Cons

So far, I haven't noticed any problems or things I'd prefer it included that it doesn't already include.

Response from Marmont

Wow, thank you so much for the raving review Amelia! So happy hear about your success while working with us.

The most informed place to look for influencers

The overall experience for me has been extremely good. I would definitely recommend this platform to all businesses looking out for influencer collaborations.

Pros

The software provides an ease of navigation while looking for influencers. It has something for everyone. One can connect to innumerable influencers through this platform based on their preferences, industry, budget, geographies and type of work. The platform is easy to use, very user friendly and does not require a lot of learning. For anyone looking out for influencers to promote your brand, this is the best platform out there!
From an influencer point of view as well, I think the platform provides a space to not only established ones but also to those just starting out by helping them connect with businesses.

Cons

Some people have fake profiles that sometimes may leave you stranded and impact your experience but I think that is a part and parcel of every platform. There is nothing else that I can think of.

Response from Marmont

Wow, thank you Drishti for leaving such a wonderful review and great feedback. We have been working on filtering out older profiles and spam users.

It is 6 out of 10
I want them to make sure all influencers are of good quality. Youtubers and Tiktokers are very few as well - hope they can add more.

Pros

Two years ago, the database of influencers are of good quality. Now, it's like they have added every account user who wishes to be in this site. Some are not active and you can see that the quality of posting is below the standard. I would rather see a small number of influencers in this site but are of high quality. I suggest someone should check each account for approval to the site. You can't just add every Instagrammer or Youtuber - there must be some parameters to be considered.

I tried to post a free influencer campaign. Only two have responded. It is for Youtubers but these people are Instagrammers. I was contacted by the site's account manager to try the paid version but I was hesitant.

It's easy to use

Cons

Not giving me enough value I was expecting

Response from Marmont

Thank you for leaving such valuable feedback. Using our Influencer Search you can specify categories, reach, ER's and more. You should try this feature to see if you will connect with influencers who meet your standard!

Pros

What I like most about influence.co is how easy it is to set up. Within an hour you can customize your profile and create a campaign.

Cons

I know they're working on this, but the ability to send and receive attachments would be a major improvement.

Great, easy-to-use platform!

Reviewed on 2020-09-17

Pros

It is a very easy to use platform. I did not have to spend a huge amount of time learning what it was about, what the company does, and how to navigate through everything. I'm very busy and do not have time to watch endless tutorial videos or going through numerous onboardings just to understand what's going on. This platform was quick to learn, very intuitive design, and I like that the goal of the platform is to create a community and not just a place for money exchange.

Cons

The content in the feed could be better optimized to be more applicable to the users such as information for brands to create better campaigns or information for influencers to market themselves better to brands.

Response from Marmont

Thank you for leaving such a positive review Thao. We are working on the content that emerges in the feed and hopefully you will start to see some positive changes!
