Pros

There are a lot of support materials and videos, and the knowledge is intuitive and can be learned and applied easily.

Cons

There are very limited options, payment processing is expensive, reporting is static, and it can't be modified a lot. Would like more reporting options and templates.

Pros

The website generally looks good and membership management is fairly seamless.

Cons

Payment is confusing for members, and we frequently overlook attendees because it is an unclear process. Reconciling payments on the back end is a mess, forcing someone to check multiple spots to determine what was included in a deposit.

Good days and bad days. There are still a lot things to learn. Knowledge based learning is good. Unfortunately time is a big thing when we all do the job as a volunteer.

Pros

Set up the meeting and the registration for the meeting. Check up the statistic of the use of the website.

Cons

Unfortunately Board member changes every year and new members needs training.

An annual introductory training sessions would help.

It is a great BASIC service for organizations that do not need more than basic functionality and features and do not have a web wizard on staff. I believe there are better services out there, but the trade-off is expense and experience/knowledge in working with websites.

Pros

Ease of setup and updating the site with current material

Cons

We have not had some of the functionality that other competitors provide; batch membership dues processing/payment, integration with member ID badges to swipe and log attendance at events, no ability to send automated "attendance certification" email to members who attended an event (we could do this initially but was lost during a recent update to email functions). There have been other features that we would like to have but don't recall right now.

Maintains membership records and provides an efficient email system.

Cons

When putting in descriptions and the body of the email there are too many codes that get put into the format. Not easy to make the body of the email or meeting description look appealing.

As a new user, I'm very pleased with StarChapter and the enhancement it has provided to our association management. I love the website that was designed and how easy it is to manage for administrators and members/guests.

Pros

The onboarding process was clear and well-supported by the StarChapter team.

Cons

A few of our existing processes had to be adjusted in order to be accommodated by the StarChapter platform.

It’s very cumbersome and I don’t feel it’s user-friendly at all. It’s not intuitive.

Overall StarChapter has been a tremendous help with our association management. It has made my job so much easier. The system is easy to manage and maintain. Our members are happy with being able to make payments easier.

Pros

StarChapter set up our website with our assistance, gave us minimal training, and responds quickly to any questions I might have. They provide help to my questions about adding to, deleting, and changing the website. StarChapter is my first experience with managing a website and has been a very easy to learn and maintain.

Cons

There are certain parts of our paperwork processes that have been a bit difficult to get used to on a website. But the StarChapter allows you to create support tickets to get assistance on adding or changing information. If the website does not allow certain additions, then the support area sends our suggestions to their management.

Pros

I use StarChapters for multiple things. Website, Bulk Email, track membership, Meeting registration & so much more. Its easy to use and user friendly even if your not tech savey.

Cons

For tickets - You don't have a live chat option. I have to put in a ticket and wait, and hope you get to me quickly. There's no phone number to call when your stuck and need just a little bit of help to keep moving forward.

Pros

Everything is intergrated and works all together as one whole system. Payments, memberships, announcements, events. StarChapter makes it easy to reach you membership with new content posted in the StarChapter system.

Cons

They only downside is emails. Any emails sent using StarChapter's system, whether it be individual or mass, it doesn't not go to the recipient’s MAIN inbox. It seems to pass recipient’s main inbox and goes to either a “promotion” and/or “spam” folder.

It functions well. I'm not a heavy content creator, rather more of an information gatherer. I sometimes find it hard to filter on what I need, but it is navigable.
I found the previous page difficult as I was character limited but it didn't tell me that.

Pros

It allows us to post our events and classes; it pulls data from our HQ; Templates are manageable

Cons

Setting up templates are not always intuitive; Should offer credit card swipes like hotels so purchases are held until a date we designate. (e.g. offer a class on Jan. 1st. all registrations before Jan. 1st are verified credit, but not charged till Jan. 1st)

It's nice that I'm able to create an event, send out emails to members, and have them login and pay all in the same place. (When it works)

Cons

It has been very difficult for members to renew their membership or new members to join using Star Chapter. I have tried to contact Star Chapter, but it seems they don't have enough people and can only offer a call back at another time. I'm a volunteer on a local chapter, I don't have time to sit at my computer waiting for a call back.

The site is difficult to customize, not allowing for an easy method of previewing changes. The content manager is clunky and unintuitive. The external facing side of the site is okay, though the division of content makes it difficult to navigate if one doesn't know exactly where to go.

Pros

The admin dashboard presents useful statistics in a simple to understand way.

Cons

It is easier for non-members to navigate the site than it is for members. Use of starchapter's payment processor is required, and quite costly if your organization does not regularly collect funds through the site.
The captcha function for registration is buggy - if registering from inside my corporate VPN, it gets into a loop and I "fail" every time.

Room for Improvement

Pros

Navigating StarChapter for our SMPS chapter has been a bit challenging, as its interface can be less intuitive than desired, a bit slow and clunky. However, given the national requirement, we recognize its necessity in managing our non-profit organization. The learning curve aside, StarChapter proves valuable in allowing us to promote our programs through one system. Although there's room for improvement in user-friendliness and functionality, we appreciate the platform's overall ability to be our one-stop shop for event management tasks.

Cons

Making changes is extremely difficult and there aren't any design/template options. Additionally making editing pages is extremely slow and time consuming.

This is an easy way to manage membership and events. It's easy to make new pages and update content.

Cons

Some times changes you make to a page take a minute to hit the site or if you go back to make changes it will say its still being worked on (even when it's not) so you'll need to come back in about an hour.Also content that has been up for a while is hard to change. (still cant figure out how to change our address on the home page.

What I like most is the essential functionality of creating member profiles, database, events and announcements.

Cons

Absolutely do not like the backend coding platform that does not make it easy to change content. Some features are not helpful to add content and pictures to the home and subsequent webpages.
