I really like AutoCAD because it allows me to create drawings for my machine shop and helps the machinist see exactly what needs to be done with visual dimensions. Our machinists love the program because they say it's easy to illustrate an idea and it allows them to convert to many different files. Our customers love it because they are able to see the final product in visual before starting any work.

Pros

What I like most about AutoCAD is the ability to create blueprints for architectural designs and create 3D images of an engineering product / idea.

Cons

What I like least about AutoCAD is the difficulty to use and lack of help available within the program.

The most used modeling software in the industry

As an advertising agency, We use AutoCAD mostly to create concepts of new products for our clients to study the feasibility of bringing them to the market.
Generally, our clients perceive the designs to be on the accurate side.
The process of managing the design from start to finish is highly streamlined in terms of assigning roles and quality control.

Pros

The most important feature for us using AutoCAD is the high precision and detailed approach to making concepts and models for potential products to pitch to our clients.
Even though we don't use this software as close to its full potential, it helped us convey ideas into realistic 3D models instead of pitching them in the form of words.

Cons

I think the number one con for our particular use is the learning curve. We always needed 3rd party freelancers to assist with the projects. I think they can perhaps create a light version that requires less engineering knowledge and that has more features to assist with designs.
Also, it can be hardware-demanding when dealing with rendering a complex design.

In five years with AutoCAD, I gained expertise in 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and design automation. I managed complex projects, improved workflow efficiency, and collaborated effectively across teams using AutoCAD’s advanced tools.

Pros

AutoCAD offers precise, professional-grade tools for creating detailed designs and drawings. Its intuitive interface and vast library of features support efficient workflows, especially with 2D drafting and 3D modeling. Additionally, it allows seamless collaboration, customization, and integration with other design software, making it highly versatile.

Cons

AutoCAD has a steep learning curve for beginners, and its complex interface can be overwhelming. Additionally, it’s resource-intensive, requiring a powerful system and can be costly for individual users.

It has been great. I have been using this software since 2021 and upgraded to AutoCAD 2023 version last year and it has helped me work on my facility layout projects with ease and better use of the functional capabilities.

Pros

the new updates on the AutoCAD are really easy to navigate through and understand even for first time users. I feel like the files have a better and faster interactive support which helps open them up faster.

Cons

Still some glitches which causes me to close entire application before I can work back normally.

It is unlikely we will ever switch back to solidworks given the capabilities and price of AutoCAD in comparison.

Pros

As an additive manufacturing (3D printing) laboratory at a major university, we require the most advanced programs which can be used across a range a skill levels. AutoCAD is consistently the most trustworthy and effective tool for 3D modeling, and the files are easily used by other programs (e.g. Cura).

Cons

The possibilities of 3D design are nearly endless, which can seem daunting, but the truth is that this create a nearly limitless ceiling for freedom of design.

In the starting it felt really difficult to use but now when i knew it properly it became very easier as well as it is a very powerful tool. It is great for both 2D drafting and 3D modelling, though it can be a bit heavy on system resources.

Pros

I like how AutoCAD offers precision and flexibility for both 2D and 3D designs. It’s super versatile, making it useful across industries like architecture and engineering. The customization options are a big plus, letting users tailor workflows. And the wide file compatibility ensures smooth collaboration

Cons

I think AutoCAD is a very powerful tool. I use it to circuit and layout site plans for electrical equipment and feeders. I then import it into a Revit model for future design modifications, but otherwise it is a great program and critical to know how to use for engineering.

Pros

AutoCAD allows a lot of creative freedom for starting a project from scratch, or importing another CAD file, or just plain old pdf.

Cons

The controls for AutoCAD are so customizable and initially foreign from any other design program that it is very difficult to teach yourself exactly what you’re trying to accomplish. Example: keyboard shortcuts and select/deselect clicking.

I usually use AutoCAD when working with my team because this tool has allowed us to draw 2D house plans, as well as add more specific elements to the house for the client's convenience. After having the 2D plan, we move on to creating the 3D model of the house.

Pros

Cons

What I dislike about using AutoCAD is that it can be somewhat complex regarding its options for adding any element because they are not easily visible.

It was an exciting experience in the world of building design and modeling through which I gained many experiences in understanding and modeling all 2D and 3D plans

Pros

Through my work on the AutoCAD program for many years, I noticed that it has many advantages, such as saving time and effort, mainly because it eliminates the need to draw on paper or manually. In addition, it is an effective program for designing and modeling projects, as it provides models (2D and 3D), and it is worth mentioning. The AutoCAD program has proven its effectiveness in the past and up to the present time as it is characterized by ease and flexibility and has an interface that is easy to understand and detail and the ability to import and export files from other programs...

Cons

Whatever the advantages of this program, we must focus on some of its negatives for the purpose of effective criticism... It has a relatively high cost, in addition to the fact that it requires computers with very high specifications, because when we design a (3D) program with complex and precise details, it will lead to a significant slowdown in the computer..
